Indiana School Construction Costs

Here is a link to the department that keeps track of all school construction costs. There report is short and very informative.

New Construction costs per sq. ft. in 2005 were;
$152.63 elementary
$144.59 middle school
$162.79 high school

Soft costs run 20%. NACS Feasibility report used 30% and $275 per sq. ft.

Jeff, what really makes me upset is that this is an educational school district. I remember doing a term paper and being graded on spelling, grammer and accuracy. I had to have foot notes and more. This feasibility report is not worth the stuff you use TP for.

Every member who is no the NACS school board needs to be ousted. I am going to go to the next board meeting and ask them directly who read this report and what grade they would give it. The taxpayers expect these members to review material like this. If they can honestly state they think this report is good, then they all need to enroll at Carroll and take some math classes.

What was it John Paul Jones said? I do, but I doubt they do.

I did my part (despite it not being my district) by supporting Mike Sylvester for the board. I don't beleive many people in this country understand statistics or data analysis well enough to draw any conclusions from these type of reports. Their eyes just gloss over when they get to tables of numbers. This is why the community needs people like yourself fact-checking these documents and pointing out discrepancies.

Keep up the good work...
